Communities are what you make them. They are created by those striving to live normal healthy lives. When communities realize that having a substance use or mental health disorder is no different than suffering from diabetes or high blood pressure. Helping educate the community to learn more about how substance use disorders impacts all of us is crucial for a healthy vibrant community. No more shaming, no more stigmatizing.
Partners 4 Recovery collaborates with some of the best resources in not only Genesee County Michigan, but in the State Capital of Lansing as well. One of our board members, Scott Masi chairs an annual event on the lawn of our State Capital. Unite to Face Addiction Michigan, (UFAM) is well attended by treatment organizations, politicians and the recovering community. One of our board members, Tracey Sahouri was one of the main speakers in 2025. She spoke of the tragic loss of her son to a fentanyl overdose. She is fierce in her drive to make families aware of the dangers of this community nightmare. Partners always has a display table at this function and gives out our literature dealing with substance use disorders. We speak with hundreds of people who gather on this day. Politicians, street sweepers, professionals of all types come to talk and be open about our disorders. If you would like to get involved please feel free to reach out and we will find a place for you.
